Camden A & P Commission Information
The city of Camden's Advertising and Promotion Commission (A&P Commission) was established to oversee the collection and utilization of taxes levied on the gross receipts from restaurants hotel and motel accommodations. The commission is tasked with utilizing the collected funds to promote tourism, conventions, park improvements and other related activities that benefit the local economy. It operates under specific legal guidelines that dictate how the funds can be raised, managed, and spent, focusing on boosting local business visibility, attracting visitors, and enhancing community events. The commission is pivotal in strategic planning for local tourism and economic development, ensuring that the cities remain competitive and appealing to both tourists and residents.
Advertising and Promotion Commission is funded by a 1% tax on gross receipts received by restaurants, cafes, cafeterias, delicatessens, drive-in restaurants, carry out restaurant, concession stands, convenience stores, grocery store restaurant and similar businesses from the sale of prepared food and beverages for on or off-site consumption.
Also, a 3% tax is added on gross receipts from leasing or otherwise furnishing hotel, motel or short-term condominium rental or party room facilities for profit.
Funding Request
Event Organizers may submit a request for fund to support their event if it meets all criteria.
Request should be submitted to the Commission seven (7) days before the next meeting.
Request Should be may at least sixty (60) days prior to the event.
